Shad and Bluegill paints
12-21-10

My Dad and I decided to go out night fishing in the freezing cold... maybe not such a good idea because it was sooo cold but once we started to get fishing it was a great decision to go. We left the house with the boat hooked up at 1:00 in the morning and got to the lake at 1:20, we fished till the sun came and about an hour after. In total we caught 13 largemouth each and all together 26 including one very nice rainbow trout that weighed 5.8 pounds!! Now to talk about what we caught them on:8 of mine came on jigs two different colors first jig was black/chart./brown the other jig was black and red with a pork chunk. Another 4 of my fish came on a fish head spin and the last one came off of a 6" baitsmith swimbait. 9 of my dad's fish came on the fish head spin and 3 came on a brown jig. The last one of his fish came off of a 6" huddleston rainbow trout swimbait. The majority of the fish came from 18-29 feet of water with maybe 2 or 3 coming from like 10 feet.
Check back in soon for another of my posts!

Today I decided to go on down to some local ponds right before I left I hand tied a brown and black living rubber jig. Got to the pond and decided to just cast the jig the whole time since it is winter. With in the first 20 I caught the only fish of the day, on the black and brown jig with a brown uncle Josh pork chunk. I wasn't huge but I would guess between 2 and 2.4 pounds, put up a great fight! Get out to your local pond/lake and catch some winter bass! If I can do it in Oregon most likely you can catch them to.
Good luck and tight lines!

Today my Dad and I went fishing again, We left the house at 2:00 o'clock in the evening and fished till dark so a total of about 3 hours 15 minutes. Total we caught 7 fish and had 12 bites all together. The fish head spin caught 5 of the fish including the biggest which was around 2 1/2 to 2 3/4 pounds. Then one on each a jig and a flick shake 5in senko. The fish were holding a about 23-28 feet of water and all you had to do was parallel the bank and painfully slowly move the fish head spin on the bottom. The trick that I did to my fish head spin which was the one that caught all the fish was change the normal willow blade it comes with to a smaller colorado style blade. The advantage of this blade over the willow leaf was that I could reel it much slower then with the willow blade (the slower you could move it the better).

Following up on my post from yesterday about my new Shimano Cumara. My dad and I went out fishing, some more winter time bass. We caught 15 fish today, 5 of the fish came on brown craw colored hand tied jigs, 4 others came on a fish head spin with a zoom fat albert grub as a trailer, the other 6 of our fish came off of a darter head with a six inch morning dawn colored robo worm. The bigger fish went for the fish head spin even though all together it got less bites, I ended up loosing a 4 pounder at the boat while trying to lip it. The Shimano Cumara was the rod that I used to catch all of the fish on the darter head, this is one of the most sensitive spinning rods that i have ever used and even though it has a good fast tip you can still power down on the fish and pull him in. I would recommend this rod to anyone that is looking for a new spinning rod for senkos, tubes, drop shots, or darter heads. Check back in for my next post most likely will be up in a week.

New Shimano Cumara
Just got a new Shimano Cumara spinning rod 7' 2" medium action. Going out fishing tomorow morning with my dad. I have a darter head tied on the new rod hopefully i will get to catch a giant on it. This rod is super light and feels like it is going to be a winner. I will check back in tomorow with picture of how we do.
